The anticipation about this year's gaming ceremony has been intense, particularly after presenter Geoff Keighley shared an enigmatic photo of a desert monolith. The question has now been solved. The acclaimed developer is developing a fresh Divinity game.
Titled simply Divinity, the game was presented with a audacious trailer packed with intense imagery, from a burning man to an orgy and the literal unleashing of hell.
Moving Beyond Original Sin
Anyone anticipating Divinity Original Sin 3, prepare for a surprise. The studio warned that a third Original Sin game to its beloved RPGs is not currently in development.
Nevertheless, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a continuation of the core franchise. This distinction suggests that the team is likely designing a real-time experience as opposed to another tactical title. For now, we can only guess, as only a teaser video is available.
A Pillar of Modern RPGs
The Divinity series is universally respected and many say it sparked the recent resurgence of deep computer role-playing games. These games are celebrated for intricate stories, choice-driven narratives, and deep class systems—elements that subsequently found massive success in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its world is familiar fare, what makes Divinity apart is the unprecedented level of trust bestowed upon the player.
In contrast to modern RPGs have simplified options, Divinity is packed with niche playthroughs you can achieve by choosing a specific type of character with a unique decision path.
The series is also famously open-ended, letting players to experiment throughout the entire experience. Most missions can be completed in multiple ways, often in unexpected fashion.
- You might find an answer because you heeded something a dog told you.
